From the Back Cover:
The truth is never that simple.
Ron Simpleman’s conscience has been in full-blown crisis mode for three quarters of a century.
How it groans and creaks now as it rocks back and forth on the rickety porch of his Octogenarian-hood. Hiding out for decades as a recluse on family acreage that clings to the sloped, sparsely wooded outskirts of Crested Butte, Colorado—despite being branded in childhood by the faults of the fathers and weighted down by a conjoined pair of secrets he’s lugged around like a packsack since 1962—Simpleman has managed to outlive nine presidents and outsmart his undertaker.
But with his final winter upon him and too little time left now to lighten the load and scrub his soul, with no hope of finding solace or being granted forgiveness for the lapses in judgement that have exiled him to this mostly miserable oblivion, and with no expectation he’ll still be around come spring, Ronald falsely believes he will get away scot free when he shuttles the skeletons from his closet with him to his grave.
